How To Make A Caravan Cake

So, it is your friend’s birthday and you want to make them a special cake. Don’t go to a supermarket and buy a rubbish, chemical filled cake make your own. And as this is a caravan website, and you are most probably into caravanning, why not make them a caravan cake? It is simple just follow these instructions.

Here are your ingredients.

  • 5 eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 275g caster sugar
  • 275g butter
  • 350g plain flour
  • 3tbsp milk

Cooking time 1-1 ½ hours, in 160 degree oven.

Whilst preparing your mixture it would be a good idea to pre heat the oven, and then you should grease and line a loaf tin. I like to use an 8” one but it is up to, depending on how tall you want your caravan to be.

Then you should sieve the flour and baking powder into a bowl. Then add all of the other ingredients and whisk it until it is a smooth mixture. Then all you have to do is pour the cake mix into the tin and bake in the centre of your oven for around and hour and a half.

Once you’re your cake is baked the fun can start. What’s that? I know it doesn’t look like a caravan, but be patient my friend, you have to decorate it first. I like to use regalice, but any kind of icing will suffice. Cover the entire cake in white icing as a base.

Then all you have to do is paint on the detail with edible pastes that you have mixed with a little gin.

You could use biscuits or Wagon Wheels or even Jaffa Cakes for the wheels and then any other bits and pieces you can think of to make it look more like a caravan. You can also use biscuits as windows and a door if you want. And you can even put your caravan on a larger piece of sponge which you have decorated with green icing. This will make it look like your caravan is sat on some grass.

The possibilities are endless; why not make a little icing couple sat in some little icing deck-chairs having a whale of a time outside their cakey caravan?

Once you have made your caravan cake all you have to do is present it to the birthday boy/girl and then devour it however you please.
